This is the contrast of the whole site in its clearest form, laid out over a single map. On the institutional side almost nothing opens with a key: a card is touched to a reader, the strike releases, and the exit device on the inside is what actually holds the door and lets people out. That device, the cylinder beside it, the closer above it and the strike it lands in are the mechanical half and they are ours, priced at $322–$815 per door for exit devices, with master key systems and access control left as custom quotes because a building of this kind is never the same twice. The credential system behind the wall is not ours and we say so before driving out. Work on any institutional door is arranged through whoever is responsible for the building, and that is settled on the call. On the residential lanes it is the plain trade again: a house lockout at $138–$252, repinning at $32–$50 per cylinder, and now and then an office safe with a combination that retired with the person who set it, opened at $212–$559. The exit device, the cylinder, the mortise case, the closer, the strike and the keeper are all ours and all of them wear on their own schedule regardless of what the reader is doing. The panel, the wiring and the list of who is allowed through belong to whoever installed the system. Saying which of the two you need on the phone saves a visit that helps nobody.
